Bear Down Omaha wants to do its part to help end hunger in our community. Food Bank for the Heartland’s mission is to provide emergency and supplemental food to the people in need in Nebraska and western Iowa with a service area that covers 93 counties and spans 78,000 square miles. 2020 is unlike anything we have ever seen. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, more residents than ever are considered food insecure and do not have regular access to food. 

The Food Bank’s COVID-19 response from March - September

• Distributed 18 million meals – a 72% increase from last year
• Served 742,493 people – a 70% increase from last year
• Purchased $4 million of food – a 220% increase from last year

Chicago Bears Legend and Omaha Native Gale Sayers passed away earlier this year at the age of 77. Bear Down Omaha wants to raise $1 for each one of the 336 points Gale Sayers scored in his Hall of Fame career with the Chicago Bears. Each dollar will help the Food Bank for the Heartland provide three meals for people in need. Please help us provide over 1,000 meals for struggling people in or community by Raising $336.
